FUOYE to honour Bamidele, Yayi others at 8th Convocation

The Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) said the Senate Leader, Michael Bamidele would be conferred with Honoris Causa at the 8th Convocation of the institution.

Also to be honoured by the institution are Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Solomon Adeola, and Chairman, House Committee on Navy, Yusuf Gadgi.

The Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, would be the Special Guest of honour of the 8th Convocation ceremony of the university.

The university management stated this in a statement by the Chairman, University Ceremonies Committee, Prof. Tajudeen Opoola, in Oye-Ekiti on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 8th Convocation is a weeklong starting from Feb. 5 to Feb. 10.

The statement read in parts: “The university would be hosting prominent personalities in Nigeria in the forthcoming 8th Convocation ceremony.

“The personalities are, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio as the Special Guest of honour; Majority Leader of the Senate, Sen. Michael Bamidele; Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Sen. Solomon Adeola Yayi and Chairman, House Committee on Navy, Mr Yusuf Gadgi among others.

“The invited dignitaries would be conferred with Honoris Causa of the university while several deserving and distinguished Nigerians would also be honoured in recognition of their sterling contributions towards adding values to the country and humanity.”

It said that the ceremony would start with exhibition of products and services by each faculty, and free healthcare services by the university medical centre team on Feb. 5.

According to the statement, on Feb. 7, there will be a repeat of free health care services for the Ikole-Ekiti community and the inauguration of projects at the Ikole campus.

“The projects include 32 rooms, professorial office building and new university library and official Induction of Engineering students will round up the activities for the third day,“ it noted.

The statement said on Feb. 8, the University Founder’s Day speech would be delivered by Prof. Adenike Oladiji, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Akure.

While Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), will deliver a Convocation lecture on Feb. 10.(NAN)
