All hands is now on deck as Saturday, September 26, 2026 will usher in a another milestone in the history of the journalism practice as guests from within and outside Ekiti state will converge on the state capital, Ado-Ekiti, as the League of Veteran Journalists (LVJ), Ekiti State Chapter, is set to inaugurate its Grand Patron, Patrons and Matron.
According to a statement made available to TopNews in Ado-Ekiti by the State Chairman of the association, Prince Kayode Oni, the event will take place at 2:00 p.m. at AB Emporium, Olora Layout, Ado-Ekiti, and is expected to attract veteran journalists, media professionals, government officials, traditional rulers and other stakeholders.
Oni said the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, is billed as the Special Guest of Honour, while former presidential adviser and veteran journalist, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, will serve as Chairman of the Day.
The Royal Father of the Day is the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti and Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adu Alagbado.
Among the dignitaries listed as patrons are Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Senator (Prince) Dayo Adeyeye, Oba Steve Alabi, the Oloosi of Osi-Ekiti, Oba Adu Alagbado, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, and Oba Akinwande Ogundana, the Onikoyi of Ikoyi, among others.
The Grand Patron is Governor Oyebanji. Prince Oni disclosed that the programme is being supported by Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the Senate Spokesman, who is also expected to attend the ceremony in person.
The LVJ chairman expressed appreciation to Adaramodu for his support, describing it as a demonstration of his commitment to the welfare and advancement of journalism and journalists in Ekiti State.
He enjoined members of the public, government functionaries, media stakeholders and well-wishers to attend.
The inauguration, he said, is expected to further strengthen the role of veteran journalists in promoting professionalism, mentorship and responsible journalism, while creating a platform for greater collaboration between media veterans and the wider society.
