Ekiti-born former Super Falcons goalkeeper, Bidemi Grace Ebunoluwa Aluko-Olaseni has passed away after an eight-year battle with cancer.
Aluko-Olaseni graced the field as an accomplished goalkeeper and the news of her demise was made public on X by a social media influencer; Ekiti Baby Governor TK.
He revealed that the late shot-stopper was a “former Falconet goalkeeper, former Rivers Angel keeper, former Ekiti Babes Goalkeeper.”
“Former Sunshine Queens goalkeeper, former Olgar Queens goalkeeper, FCT Babes Alumna, former Makbet Queens goalkeeper.
Bidemi who would have been 43 this year reportedly died on Friday at UCH Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, after eight years of battle with cancer. She was an indigene of Ijurin-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government area of Ekiti State.
Both Aanu Albert Aluko, a brother to Bidemi and a school mate of the deceased, comrade Abiodun Olofe confirmed her death to TopNews on behalf of the family.
Bidemi Aluko opened up on her secret battle with Breast Cancer in 2019 which she said started in 2017.
She said she was diagnosed of the rare breast cancer while still playing for her team, the Rivers Angels in the NWPL and underwent series of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.
In 2019 she took to social media to reveal some revelations where she solicited funds from well-meaning Nigerians as she needed about #5 million as of 2019 to survive.
