Revenue Harmonization and Ease of Doing Business; Key To Economic Growth – Wale Akinterinwa

In a bid to promote revenue harmonization and ease of doing business, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s administration, ably represented by the Honorable Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Wale Akinterinwa, convened a Stakeholders Resolution Retreat on the Harmonization of Revenue and Ease of Doing Business in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Akure.

The retreat, held on the 11th of May 2023, brought together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, including business owners, investors, government officials, and regulatory agencies. The event aimed to foster collaboration and dialogue towards streamlining revenue generation processes and creating a more conducive environment for businesses in the state.

Hon. Wale Akinterinwa, who spoke on behalf of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, emphasized the importance of revenue harmonization and its direct impact on economic growth and development. He stated, “Harmonizing revenue collection and improving the ease of doing business are crucial steps towards attracting investments and promoting economic prosperity. This retreat presents an opportunity for all stakeholders to contribute their ideas and experiences to shape policies that will drive growth in Ondo State.”

During the retreat, various speakers and panelists addressed key issues related to revenue generation, taxation, business regulations, and licensing. They explored strategies to eliminate duplications, streamline processes, and leverage technology for effective revenue collection. The discussions also focused on enhancing transparency, reducing bureaucratic bottlenecks, and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Representatives from regulatory agencies, including the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (OSIRS), Ondo State Investment and Promotion Agency (ONDIPA), and the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, and Cooperatives, shared insights on their respective roles in revenue collection and their commitment to supporting businesses.

Several participants commended Governor Akeredolu’s administration for organizing the retreat, describing it as a timely initiative that reflects the government’s proactive approach to economic development. They expressed optimism that the resolutions and recommendations arising from the retreat would be implemented to enhance revenue generation and attract more investors to the state.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who was unable to attend the retreat due to other engagements, expressed his gratitude to Hon. Wale Akinterinwa for representing him and ensuring the successful execution of the event. The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that fosters economic growth, job creation, and overall development in Ondo State.

As the Stakeholders Resolution Retreat on the Harmonization of Revenue and Ease of Doing Business concluded, participants departed with a renewed sense of purpose and anticipation for the implementation of the resolutions and recommendations put forth during the event.
