Kidnappers terrorising Ekiti communities, other axis in Police net over murder, robbery

The Ekiti State Police Command, has paraded suspected kidnappers terrorizing Iyemero, Oke Ako, and some Kogi communities with other crimes ranging from, murder, armed robbery and cultism.

Briefing TopNewsng on the development, the State Police Commissioner, Dare Ogundare, said that the arrest was effected in collaboration with the Kogi State Police Command.

He explained that one Abu Hassan and Abubakar Sodiq were identified by one of their victims to be notorious kidnappers along the axis.

The CP added that the kidnappers were responsible for the abduction of the brother of the late Joseph Ayebulu, a Civil Defense Officer, who was shot dead at the scene, some times last year.

“The suspect were identifed by One Saka Orelope to be among the kidnappers that kidnapped him at ATU farm settlement Iyemero-Ekiti. One Bayo Aribisala also identified the suspects to be among the hoodlums that intercepted his vehicle on 26/12/2022 at about 14:00hrs along Oke-Ako and shot his two legs but he managed to escape from the scene.

“More so, one Ayebulu Oyewole who was kidnapped on 03/09/2022 identified the suspects to be among the kidnappers that kidnapped him alongside his two brothers and shot dead his elder brother, one late Ayebulu Joseph, a Civil Defense Officer, at the scene.

“It was revealed that the suspects were also involved in the kidnapping of one Afolayan Samson and Adewole Ige at Igede farm settlement in Iyemero-Ekiti on 15/04/2023 and later released on 17/04/2023 after a ransom was paid.

“One locally made single barrel gun and two live cartridges were recovered from the suspects. Effort is ongoing for the possible arrest of other fleeing suspects”.

The CP said police operatives equally arrested one Umar Hassam and Yusuf Lawal for allegedly storming Ayenco area, EdaIle-Ekiti and kidnapping one Ajayi Mary Olajumoke. The victims has been saved and two cutlass and 82,000 were recovered.

On cultism the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested one Quadri Ajbola a.k.a Omoolope who is a notorious member of black Axe secret cult that had planned to unleash terror on their rival members in Ado-Ekiti and environs.

“Investigation revealed that the faction of the black Axe had created a group called HIT who were Supposed to Commence their king operation on 10/05/2023. Further investigation showed that the group was responsible for the killing of 8 suspected members of black Axe secret cult.

“On Armed robbery and cultism, the Commissioner revealed that one Adebayo Oladele a.k.a Yoje,
Oluwaseun Aanuoluwapo alias Ogo and One Adeleye Tope a.k.a Omo Mummy attacked some members of NURTW with dangerous weapons such as gun, clubs bottles at their motor park in Igede-Ekiti. They disposed the secretary of the union’s ticket booklet and also robbed him of his money.

“On 07/05/2023 at about 11:45hrs, the Command’s Operatives, while on stop and search along Aramoko-Efon highway, intercepted a Toyota Bus occupied by the three suspects namely: Ismaila Rafiu, Komolafe Shola and Aladegoke Busuyi.

“Upon searching the boot of the bus, different electric cables were found.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to have vandalized the transformer connecting Isinbode-Ekiti and carted away the cables that were found with them.

“The arrested suspects mentioned gangs who are at large and effort is currently ongoing to arrest them”

The CP who appreciated members of the public most especially good spirited individuals for their cooperation by giving timely and useful information that led to some of these achievements, however assured that all the suspects arrested will be arraigned accordingly.
