Some armed bandits have attacked the Gaa Fulani community in Iye-Mero, in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Wednesday evening, abducting residents and looting valuables in a raid that lasted between 6pm and 7pm.
Topnews Correspondent gathered that the attackers stormed homes and stole phones, ATM cards, cash, clothing, shoes, bags, jewellery and wristwatches belonging to residents.
They were however intercepted shortly after by the Iye-Mero community security network, supported by soldiers stationed nearby, triggering a prolonged gunshots across the forests linking Ekiti, Kwara and Kogi state respectfully.

It was learnt that the resistance forced the bandits to release their captives and flee.
“All the abducted persons were rescued alive. The bandits realised they had been overpowered and took to their heels,” a source said.
