A non-social political group in Ekiti State, the Poultry Farmers Farmers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), Ekiti Chapter has lauded the administration of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji on various programs including the palliative and empowerment programs embarked on for the association to cushion the effects of the rising cost of maize the caused by the the removal of subsidy in the country.
They gave the commendation in Ado-Ekiti while over 600 beneficiaries received the third tranche of the distribution of thousand bags of maize to their members.
The palliative programme held at ADP office, along Agric Olope Area of Ado-Ekiti, brought together poultry farmers from different Communities in Ekiti State, had numerous beneficiaries in attendance.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with TopNews in Ado-Ekiti during the distribution of maize, the Chairman of Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), in Ekiti State, comrade Alonge Oluwasetemi described the gesture given to them through the governor in collaboration with the Ekiti State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security as second to none.
“Over 5,000 bags of maize was given to us. Poultry farmers in Ekiti has never had it so good like this and we thank our governor for making us proud as a farmer,”and for giving the association in Ekiti State a sense of belonging”.
He said, “It is no longer news that maize has become unaccessible to poultry farmers in Nigeria as it is so difficult to access before you could feed your animals and that is why we are saying a big thank you to our governor for this laudable and giants step”, Alonge explained.
The beneficiaries, who were excited about the programme with different appreciation comments to appreciate the efforts of the governor, his wife, Dr Olayemi and the ministry of Agric for doing a yeoman job in the state.
According to him, “We have been on this distribution matter since the past four days and we are not yet through as people still trouping in to get theirs. This the first time farmers in Ekiti will had it so good from government and we are grateful for this”.
He charged the farmers continue their support for this present administration and also enjoined other well-meaning Ekiti indigenes to take a cue and keep supporting the Oyebanji government to succeed 8 in his bid to take Ekiti State to the next level.
One of the beneficiaries in a separate interview with TopNews, Mrs Ariyo Faderera lauded the efforts of the state government for the initiative, highlighting that the spirit of giving at this trying time was highly commendable.
“We want our governments at all levels to help us find a lasting solution to the insecurity ravaging our lands. For example, some of are willing even and ready to and farm on our different places, but because of the fear of been kidnapped has bar us to do so”.
She encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the grains received during the event for poultry feeding and not for commercial purposes.
Some other beneficiaries, who spoke on behalf of others include Mr Akeredolu Adewole and Mrs Oluwafemi Adegoke, thanked the donor for the gifts.
The beneficiaries later pledged their readiness and commitment to indicate their further support for Governor Oyebanji’s administration.
The beneficiaries, went home with bags of maize believe to feed their poultry animals.
