The gubernatorial candidate under the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) during 2022 Governorship election in Ekiti State, Engr. Erelu Kemi Elebute-Halle has condemned the Monday attack on three traditional rulers in the state which led to the killing of HRM Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti and HRM Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti.

The three monarchs were reported to be returning from a meeting when the assailants ambushed them along Ipao-Oke Ako road and killed the two Obas, while the third traditional ruler, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, HRM Oba Adebayo Fatoba escaped the attack.

Erelu Elebute-Halle in a statement made available to TopNews said the attack on the monarchs as well as the rising wave of attack and kidnapping in Ekiti State reinforce apprehensions of security compromises and lapses, which underpin the necessity to immediately rejig the state’s security apparatus.

“I’m particularly saddened with the yesterday’s killing of these traditional rulers. These two Kabiyesis were like a father to me”.

The female politician who is also the Erelu Okin of Esun Kingdom, while sympathising with the people of Esun and Imojo-Ekiti over the untimely deaths of their Obas, called on governor Biodun Oyebanji not to rest on its oars until the perpetrators of the heinous attack are brought to book.

“I condemn this attack in strong term and my heart is with the people of Esun, Imojo and the entire people of Ekiti State”
