Ekiti Assembly Begins Investigation on Shabby Outfits of State Athletes at Ongoing NSF

The Ekiti State House of Assembly, has commenced its thorough investigation into the matter of the shabby outfits worn by Ekiti State athletes at the ongoing youth sports festival.

The investigation conducted by the House Committee on Youth and Sport, headed by Hon. Idowu Odebunmi, was held at the Assembly Parliamentary Office, had in attendance the General Manager, Ekiti Sport Council, Mr. Kunle Adeyemi, and the representatives of the state Accountant General, was initiated to ensure accountability and adherence to standards in representing Ekiti State and the values known for.

Upon careful consideration, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Odebunmi while speaking on behalf of other members, though, absorbed the G.M of any financial misappropriation, expressed the House dissatisfaction with the negligence of the sports council in coordinating the affairs of the athletes, and adhering to standards, resulting in the misrepresentation of the state.

Hon. Idowu while stating that the Committee would henceforth be involved in all activities of the council, also remarked that the investigation would continue till a satisfactory conclusion is made.

He therefore requested other senior officials of the council to appear with the general manager for further questioning.

In his defence, the General Manager, Mr. Kunle Adeyemi apologized for the embarrassment caused to the state, and appealed that the Council was doing its best to move sports forward in Ekiti.

He aligned with the committee’s decision to invite other officials involved in the day-to-day activities, as it would afford the it more space to dig further into the matter.

The G.M. while commending the state government for its effort and support towards the development of youth and sports in the state, promised not to let the governor and the state down in the ongoing festival.
