The main organizing committee for the Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (MOB) Soccer competition among Football teams in Ekiti Central Senatorial District has been set up in preparations for the second edition.
In a statement made available to TopNews in Ado-Ekiti, the committee which has just been constituted has Hon. Sola Fakanle has its chairman while Hon. Banji Gbenga serves as Team Leader and Hon. Olubunmi Oguntuase who is the Senior Legislative aide to Senator Bamidele will serve as Secretary.
The Chairman of the Ekiti State football Association, Mr Olu Oloworemo and a former chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria in Ekiti state, Mr Toyin Ayoola are also part of the MOB Cup Main Organizing Team while Hon. Funso Bamidele is the Special Adviser.
At the maiden meeting of the committee held in Ado-Ekiti presided by the team leader, Hon. Gbenga Banji, the committee resolved that registration for the preliminaries of the championship will begin on Tuesday 1st of October, 2024 and will last two weeks while the second edition of the MOB Unity Cup will begin and end in November this year.
The championship which is for both male and female football teams in Ekiti Central Senatorial District is christened “MOB UNITY CUP.
The Football Championship is a yearly competition put in place by the Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly, Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele.
It is aimed at fostering unity among the people of Ekiti State and support the grassroots Sports Development program of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The Local Government Councils taking part in the championship are, Ado, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Efon, Ekiti West and Ijero.
It would be recalled that Senator Opeyemi Bamidele MOB recently embarked on the construction of modern stadia across towns and villages in Ekiti Central Senatorial District as part of his efforts at promoting and developing sporting activities in Ekiti state.
