The Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti will on Friday play host to sports journalists from across the State as they will be contesting in the one day Emperor Alabi Annual SWAN Cup 2023.
The game for this year is volleyball and according to the executive of the Association, all participating journalists will form two teams namely, SWAN electronics and SWAN prints.
The two sides will face each other to decide which team is better as all radio stations and television stations will form SWAN electronic while all newspaper correspondents and online correspondents will form SWAN prints.
The event which hopefully begins at 9 o’clock in the morning at the Volleyball Court, Oluyemi Kayode Stadium will be witnessed by the sponsor and Chief Host who is a former National President of SWAN, Barrister Steve Alabi as well as his friends and family members.
The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye is the chairman of the occasion while the Olukere of Odo-Oja, Ikere Ekiti is the royal father of the day.
All patrons of SWAN namely, Asiwaju Ayodeji Olajubu, Dr Mrs Adenike Kolawole, Dr Dayo Oladebeye and Mr Yemi Owoseni shall be the Guests of Honour.
Other dignitaries expected are the Commissioner for Information, chief Taiwo Olatunbosun, Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon Adedayo Gold, Chairman Ekiti State Football Association, chief Olu Oloworemo as well as the Acting General Manager, Ekiti State Sports Commission,Mr Mayowa Ogundele as well as all friends of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN, Ekiti State chapter)
Aside the volleyball contest which will attract cash gifts courtesy of the sponsor, there will also be merriment as members will wine and dine in celebration of the end of the year.
