Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti State Chapter, has Congratulated their immediate past Chairman, Alhaji Ayodeji Ogunsakin who emerged the new National Vice President (South West) of the Association.
Ogunsakin was elected unopposed at the National Triennial Delegate Congress of SWAN held Thursday in Omoku, Rivers State.
SWAN in a congratulatroty message made available to TopNewsng Newspaper by the chairman, Comrade Quazeem Oladapo and the secretary, Comrade Bisi Omoyeni in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, stated that it was the first time Ekiti State would produce a Vice President for SWAN in Nigeria
In the meantime, Isaiah Benjamin from Kaduna State was voted new President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria(SWAN)
Benjamin defeated Abubakar Sodiq Moyoyo from Taraba State to succeed immediate past President, Dr Honour Sirawoo.
Other elected officers included Bonny Nyong as Deputy President; Ikenna Okonkwo as Secretary-General, Ralph Azuka as Vice President, South-South; Ijeoma Nwante as Financial Secretary and Augustine Ajayi as Welfare Officer.
The elected officers were sworn-in shortly after the peaceful election as former President, Honour Sirawoo officially handed over to the new President, Isaiah Benjamin.
The new SWAN president promised to strive towards building bridges and ensuring a more united and formidable association under his administration.
Commending all stakeholders including Dr Sirawoo for their efforts at raising the bar of standards for the association, the former Kaduna State SWAN chairman, Benjamin expressed determination at leaving SWAN better in term of professionalism, accountability, transparency and team spirit.
In a related development, the Proprietor of Go-Round Football Club, Omoku, Rivers State, Chief Felix Obuah, had been named National Patron of SWAN.
Former President of SWAN, Honour Sirawoo made the pronouncement at the Delegate Congress of the Association in Omoku.
Chief Obuah, who is also a politicilal gladiator and a business mogul, accepted the appointment and pledged his continued support for SWAN and its activities.
In attendance at the National SWAN Congress held between Tuesday and Thursday from Ekiti State were the chairman of SWAN, Ekiti State, Qozeem Oladapo and Secretary, Bisi Ogunleye along side several other State SWAN chairmen and secretaries as well as stakeholders from across the country.
The new set of Executive will serve for a period of 3 years.
