Senate Leader, Bamidele Hails Oyebanji’s Giant Strides in Sports Development

Leader of senate, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for the giant strides recorded in sports in Ekiti State.

The Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly gave the commendation while speaking at a sports fiesta organized by the Alumni Association of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti to celebrate the strides of the governor in the sports sector.

Senator Bamidele said the transformation in the sports sector was beyond imagination adding that the upgrading of the Oluyemi Kayode stadium in Ado Ekiti has made the stadium rank among the best in the country.

He highlighted other transformational development in the stadium such as the laying of astro turf on the football pitch with new electronic scoreboards, laying of tartan tracks for athletic events, construction of administrative blocks and sports hostel as well as upgrading of the volleyball court among others.

Speaking through the senior legislative aide to the Senate President Mr Toyin Ayoola at the occasion, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele observed that the new indoor sports hall being built by governor Oyebanji is first of it’s kind in the country as it will offer the teeming sportsmen and women in the State invaluable benefits.

The Senator said another topnotch achievement of the governor was the elevation and transformation of the Ekiti Sports Council to Ekiti sports commission
He added that the football clubs in Ekiti State both in the male and female categories, especially Ekiti United football club and Ekiti Queens had their best outings in the just concluded National Football league and the Nigeria Women Football League.

Senator Opeyemi Bamidele urged Ekiti people to continue to support the governor in order to attract more enviable developments to the State in the coming years.

The EKSU Alumni Association Sports Initiative was aimed at galvanizing support for governor Biodun Oyebanji so that he could deliver more dividend of democracy to the people of Ekiti State.
The event featured a novelty football match between EKSU Alumni and FUOYE Alumni which ended 2-2 and athletics events for males and females .

Present at the occasion were the Vice Chancellors of the Ekiti State University, Professor Joseph Ayodele, the representative of Venite University, Iloro Ekiti, Global President of EKSU Alumni, Ambassador Seyi Idowu and his counterpart from FUOYE as well as the Special Adviser to the governor on Housing, Hon Gboyega Oloniyo among others.
