Ahead of the forthcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, the management of Ekiti State owned female football team, Ekiti Queens Football Club has acquired good more legs to beef up and stronger the team the more as new football season approaches.
The new players numbering about fourteen (14) were invited some months ago from different NWFL Championship teams and have since gone through series of training sessions and friendly matches where some players who could not meet up were dropped.
According to a statement signed by the Team Manager, Mrs. Adekanye Mojisola and made available to TopNews by the Media Officer of the team, Mr Demola Atobaba stated that the team retained a good numbers of fifteen (15) old players, while fourteen (14) new players were signed to boost the performances of the team.
He stated further that presently, a total numbers of twenty nine (29) players are already in the camp provided by the Ekiti State Government for the NWFL 2024/25 football Season.
Speaking on the development, the Technical Advisor to the Ekiti State Governor on Sports Development, Dr (Mrs) Olusola Osetoba said they secured the services of of the fourteen (14) New players to strengthen the team better, most especially the attacking side so as to have a complete team for the new season hoping to start soon.
Dr Osetoba who also commended the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji and his wife, Associate Professor Olayemi Oyebanji for the passion and love to take Ekiti sports sector to a greater heights, promised not to let the government and people of Ekiti down in the confidence reposed in her and the officials.
Also, the new Head Coach of the team, Mr Jacob Vandi assured that it’s no longer the business as usual, as he hinted that the technical crew has done a lot of yeoman’s job to ensure that the team comes out in flying colour at the end of the coming season.
According to him, “With the entries of the new players, we are more than well prepared for the commencement of the League, we are fully ready for the task ahead. NWFL is not a child play because as premiership players, you must have a lion’s heart to fight your way out.”
“Before now, the team have difficulty in scoring goals the out gone season, but with the help of God and with the coming in of some of our newly signed players to add glamours to the attacking force and attacking midfielders, the Ekiti Queens FC girls are good to go”, Coach Vandi assured.
