The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed sadness over the “untimely death of a prominent chieftain of the party in Mushin Local Government area of the state, Hon Jude Obikwe.”
The party said in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Hakeem Amode, dated May 27, 2023, that the death of Hon. Obiekwe at this material time got to them as a rude shock.
“Hon. Obiekwe, who died on Friday, May 26, was a candidate of our party to the House of Representatives Mushin Federal Constituency 2 in 2019 and an aspirant to the same office in 2023.
“We hereby wish to commiserate with the leaders of the PDP in Mushin LGA, the Lagos State chapter of the Igbo apex socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, and all Igbos who reside in the state.
“The contributions of Hon. Obiekwe to the success of our party both in Mushin and in the state are immeasurable and we will surely miss him as he transited to the world beyond.
“We are however, consoled by the fact that Hon. Obiekwe lived a life worthy of emulation and he did his best to serve humanity and to contribute to the development of the community, where he resided and for his people,” the statement read.
The part then encouraged members of the family of the deceased as well as his friends and political associates to continue to build on the legacy he left behind.
The party prayed that God will grant the Obiekwe family, Mushin PDP, all the Ndigbos in Lagos State “the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grant him eternal rest.”
