Celebrations rented the atmosphere as the Ekiti State own male team, Ekiti United Football Club emerged in a dramatic victorious way at the Ijebu Ode center of the NLO league, securing a playoff ticket after a thrilling match against Living Voice FA.
The Ekiti side dominated the match, scoring three goals and conceding one, with a final scoreline of 3-1.
In a statement made available to TopNews in Ado-Ekiti by the Media Officer of Ekiti United FC, Blessing Akinyemi said, “Hakeem Amuda opened the scoring for Ekiti United FC within the first minute, doubling the lead just six minutes into the game”.
“Despite Living Voice FA’s efforts, Ekiti United FC maintained their pressure and controlled the game, with the first half ending 2-0 in their favor.
In the second half, Living Voice FA scored a goal, but Ekiti United FC’s relentless pressure paid off as they conceded an own goal, sealing the win. This victory marked the culmination of an impressive group stage campaign, where Ekiti United FC remained unbeaten throughout.
Speaking after the match, Coach Salau Rotimi praised the team’s resilient spirit, attributing their success to their faith in God and unity among the players. He expressed gratitude to the Ekiti State Government, led by Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for their support through the Technical Advisor for Sports Development, Dr. Mrs. Olusola Osetoba, and all sports special advisers. He also thanked sports stakeholders in Ekiti State for their support throughout the competition.
With this win, Ekiti United FC is ready to face their next opponents in the final playoff matches, poised to give their best and make their fans proud.
