The Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, has been elected as the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Conference of Speakers.
In the same fashion, the Ekiti Speaker had also been elected as the Chairman of the Southwest caucus of the conference, according him the unfettered leeway to lead his colleague Speakers from Lagos, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ogun States.
Another significant development also unfolded, as the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, emerged as the Conference Chairman, cementing his position as a prominent leader within the Nigerian legislative landscape.
The highly experienced and ingenious lawmakers were elected at the ongoing Conference of the 36 Speakers holding in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
The Conference is a prestigious umbrella body for the Speakers of all the 36 states Houses of Assembly and a veritable platform for interactions and peer review mechanism.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Conference of Speakers extends its heartfelt congratulations to Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye and Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin on their well-deserved appointments and wishes them success in their new roles.
Reacting to his elections, which came synchrony, Rt. Hon. Aribasoye, promised to serve the conference with zeal and patriotism in such a way that will elevate the national outlook of the highly venerated body as a strong ally in governance.
Overwhelmed by the enormous respect demonstrated towards him by his national and zonal colleagues, the lawmaker, representing Ikole constituency 2 in the Ekiti Assembly, promised to coalesce efforts with his members to improve and radicalise lawmaking facet across the nation.
Rt Hon Aribasoye added that time has come for the lawmakers to coalesce their intellectual endowments to make the State legislature a reliable partner to the executive and judiciary in the government’s operations.
His words: “I feel humbled and overwhelmed with joy with these feats. Becoming the Vice Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Speakers connotes that Ekiti State House is fast garnering recognition in national politics and leadership.
“This further signposted that we are being recognised for our efforts in changing the face of governance in Ekiti through passage of quality and people-centric bills, with high propensity for good governance and that can touch the lives of our people positively.
“Time has come for the lawmakers to show that they are reliable partners to the executive arm. It is time to operate a seamless lawmaking organ that can cohabit effortlessly with the executive arm to make Nigeria great. The task of building a virile nation is determined chiefly by the quality of laws emanating from the legislature.
“I appreciate my colleagues at both national and zonal levels for their respect and display of camaraderie. I won’t betray the trust and confidence reposed in my knack to be a staunch team player. That I promise I shall be.
“I appreciate Governor Biodun Oyebanji and my colleagues in the Ekiti State House of Assembly for their irrepressible and unflagging support. This has been the launchpad for the attainment of this monumental feat. I will never take this for granted”.
