Ekiti Queens FC Set for Double Away Clashes, Preparatory to NWFL Mid-Season Break

The state-owned female football team in Ekiti State, Ekiti Queens Football Club, has again put all arrangements in place ahead of their double away matches against Abia Angels and Edo Queens respectfully.

The BAORESS Babes who continues its fairytale in the matchday 5 of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership leaves no stone unturned ahead of the two all awaited games.

Ekiti Queens FC during their third home game got a superlative free-kick took by one of the host midfielder, Rashidat Salau couple with another strike from Patient Yaro, secured the vital home win against the visiting Confluence Queens of Kogi at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

FThe match which began on a high note with both sides pushing to take total control and it went on till the first half ended in goalless.

Resumption of the second half saw Ekiti Queens FC scoring in the 62nd minutes from Rashidat Salau and with hard fighting, tactical, powerful strike Patient Yaro who recorded an assist from Dorcas Raymond who came into the game 6 minutes to the match. Yaro who has been on goal drought added the second in the 90th minute to make it two goals for the BAORESS Babes.

The remaining minutes saw Ekiti Queens FC exhibit a high level of defensive display to curtail the attacking surge of their opponents as the game went down to the wire.

With this victory, the Coach Jacob Vandi tortured side demonstrated their strength and resilience both in attack in securing yet another important win to top the NWFL premiership 25, with 9 points thereby keeping their dream looking up to a spot in the super six spot alive.

Speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the Chairman Football Association, Ekiti State Chapter, Chief Oluwole Oloworemo congratulated the Ekiti Queens side for their resilience and efforts put into the game in securing the necessary 3 points.

According to Aare Oloworemo, “The league is a growing competition, the host side came in into the game in the second half to push for the best and thank God they got the goals despite all odds”.

Also, while addressing the players in a celebration mood, the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Sports Development, Dr Olusola Osetoba commended the Ekiti Queens side for a weldon job.

She expressed confidence and determination ahead of the two away matches, stating that the team will go out there and get the 3 points.

Her words: “I know it’s going to be tough over there, yet it’s achievable because God Almighty will go before us. We are equal to the task as we go for total victory. We believe in the team, both the players and the crew are highly motivated to keep the tempo high in every matches ahead,” Dr Osetoba disclosed.

As the Ekiti Queens prepares for the next crucial two consecutive away matches, coach Jacob Vandi also took a moment to thank the sponsors of the team, the Ekiti State Government under the leadership of Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and as well the fans and supporters, home and diaspora for recognizing the state achievements of the team so far. Fans and football lovers can expect an exhilarating display of skill and determination as the game on.

Eckiti Queens will now have a trip to Abia for the next game in the NWFL premiership’25 of the Match Day six against Abia Angels slated for Umuahia Stadium, Abia State on Wednesday 19th and Edo Queens FC on the 26th of February, 2025.

Riding high on momentum after defeating Confluence Queens FC from Kogi State in the Matchday Day 5 at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, the Ekiti Queens are brimming with confidence as they aim for victory in Umuahia and Benni City before they proceed on mid-season break.

Currently sitting 3rd in Group A with 9 points, Ekiti Queens FC is gradually climbing the table, while Abia Angels FC sits far behind in the 5th position with 7 points in the same group A.

The team have showcased remarkable performances so far, getting ready for an exciting clash against Abia Angels next week Wednesday.
