Ekiti NUJ Sets Template For Nigerians, Elects New Leaders …As Babatuyi pledges robust representation, inclusiveness

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti Council, has been commended for setting a new template for Nigeria leaders to emulate as the Union inaugurated a new set of Executives who will pilot the affairs of the Union for the next three years.

In the new executive list are; comrade Kayode Babatuyi as Chairman, comrade Yinka Ilori – Vice Chairman, comrade Seun Ogunsakin emerged the Secretary and comrade Victor Akinkuolie as Assistant Secretary.

Others are comrade Lawrence Ibitoye as the Financial Secretary, comrade Abidemi Sikiru as Treasurer and comrade Olubunmi Ibiteye as Auditor.

Delivering his acceptance speech after taking the oath of office, the new Chairman of NUJ in Ekiti State, comrade Kayode Babatuyi who is a staff of Radio Nigeria, progress FM, Ado-Ekiti pledged his readiness to to take the Union to a greater heights. He promised to continue from where the outcome Executives stopped in order to give the union a facelift.

Babatuyi, however, made some appointments and set up three committees to help his administration to achieve the desired success.

The outgone NUJ Chairman in Ekiti state, Lion Rotimi Ojomoyela appreciated God for giving him the grace to complete his administration with great achievements.

Mr Ojomoyela listed some of the achievements of his tenure to include unity among members, obtaining certificate of occupancy of the union land, renovation of the Secretariat, building of a block of classroom for IIJ, peaceful transition of power to another Executives, among others.

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Chief Chris Iziguzo, represented by the National Vice President B-Zone, comrade Ronke Samo while charging the new Executives to be united for the union to succeed, affirmed that the Union has set a good team worthy of emulation for Nigeria leaders. He urged the new set of leaders to be fair to all journalists in the state and be committed to the council.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode congratulated the new administration and charged them not to rest on their oars but to build on the good legacy laid by the outgone administration.

The Commissioner for Information, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun expressed optimism in the ability of the new leadership of NUJ to make the profession great, while promising the support of the state government for the union.

The Chairman, Trade Union Congress in Ekiti state, comrade Sola Adigun urged the NUJ Executives not to betray the trust the members have in them.
