The National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons paraded CAC pastor in Akure, Ondo State and two members of the church for allegedly trafficking a lady to Bagdad, capital of Iraqi in the Middle East where she had been subjected to slavery, hard labour, molestation and exploitation.
Parading the suspect, the Head, National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Oladimeji Samson said the victim who is a native of Ifaki-Ekiti and mother of three was sent to slavery by her sister with the connivance of the pastor and one other woman.
He said the agency was contacted by the victim which led to the arrest of the suspects whom he said would be prosecuted after due investigation.
Quoting the victim, Mr. Oladimeji said She was told that she would be in Bagdad as a sales representative in a boutique, but she was subjected to slavery and exploitation on getting to the place.
“In one of the voice notes sent to NAPTIP, the lady lamented profusely how she was suffering from the hand of the agents.
She begged for help to bring her back to save their life.
Mr. Oladimeji noted that the Director General of the agency, Professor Fatima Waziri-Azi had zero tolerance for trafficking and would continue to do everything to stop it in the country.
