…As stage set to engage Heartland Queens FC Wednesday 15

The dream of exploring the untapped potential opportunities in the teeming youths of Ekiti State, one of the key elements of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s cardinal programs, yielding positive result on a day most people perceived as first working day of the week witnessed a tremendous turnout in the sports sector.
This, is as football enthusiasts, members of Sports Writers Association (SWAN), members of the public, both young and old, converged in a high-pitched excitement as officials and players of Ekiti Queens Football Club joined the wife of the Governor of Ekiti State, Associate Professor Olayemi Oyebanji to unveiled four different colours of jerseys as kits for the State-owned female football team.
It was a great exciting moment at a colourful but low key event as the Ekiti Queens Football Club get their new jerseys for the 2024/2025 Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Season in a ceremony attended by some sports stakeholders.
The wife of the governor, Association Professor Olayemi Oyebanji who spoke through the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Mrs Peju Babafemi, pledged continue support of the governor and his wife for the development of sports in the State.
Ekiti Queens FC Newly Unveiled Jerseys
The she expressed delight over the new jerseys, consisting of home kit, away kit, training kit, and traveling jersey. She emphasized the state’s expectation of excellent performance from the team, given the government’s support.
According to her; “We are in an era where the girl child is prioritized, and I encourage parents to allow their female children to participate in sports. We all know that government can’t do it alone and that is why we are calling on individuals of Ekiti indigene bohe and abroad to join hands in developing the state especially through sporting activities,” Babafemi said.
Also speaking with TopNews, the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Sport Development, Dr Mrs Olusola Osetoba urged the public to support the team when they start the league on Wednesday 15th January 2025 as the Ekiti Queens FC will begin their campaign in the NWFL Premiership at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti against their counterpart from Imo State, the Heartland Queens Football Club of Owerri.
The sports administrator also disclosed that fans and supporters club jerseys are also available for sale at some few radio stations, sports commission office and selected sports stores across the state.
Dr Osetoba who applauded a kind-hearted governor’s efforts who give them the platform to operate and celebrate the Ekiti Queens FC amidst pomp and celebrations.
Giving the team’s assurance of victory on Wednesday, the captain of the Ekiti Queens FC, Seun Fakunle assured that the team will not disappoint the state and government at large, requesting full support from fans home and diaspora.
Highlight of the much-awaited unveiling event which had in attendance dignitaries across length and bregth of the state were distributions of jerseys to the individual players and photoshoot for the official unveiling with songs, dance and pleasantries.
