The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ekiti State Command, has launched its 2026 Sallah Special Patrol Operation to curb road crashes and ensure safe travel before, during, and after the Eid al-Kabir celebrations.
Sector Commander, Corps Commander Sanya Adeoye announced the operation in a press statement which was signed by SRC Tajudeen A. Balogun, Sector Public Enlightenment Officer, RS 8.2 Ekiti State Command.
According to him, the command has mobilized 783 personnel, including regular marshals, special marshals, and traffic volunteers.

He noted that the personnel would be backed by 13 patrol vehicles, 2 ambulances, and 1 towing truck for rapid response across the state.
He explained that operatives would be stationed 24 hours daily from May 25 to May 31, 2026, on all major routes as stated below. Ado-Ekiti–Akure Expressway, Ado-Ekiti–Ikere–Akure Road, Ado-Ekiti–Ijan–Ifaki–Otun Road, Ido-Ekiti–Oye–Omuo Road, and within Ado metropolis.
The operation will focus on the leading causes of crashes such as speeding, dangerous overtaking, drunk driving, overloading, non-use of seatbelts and helmets, and route violations.
Mobile courts have been set up in Ado-Ekiti, Ikere, and Oye-Ekiti for swift prosecution of offenders.
Commander Adeoye said the command has engaged transport unions, religious leaders, and other stakeholders to support the campaign.
“We cannot do this alone. I call on all transport unions, religious leaders, and passengers to join us. Speak up against reckless driving. A safe Sallah is our collective responsibility,” he said.
