Minister Seeks NUJ Collaboration In Fight Against Pipeline Vandalism, Illegal Refining

The Minister of State Petroleum Resources Oil, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri has called on the Nigeria Union of Journalists to join forces with the ministry in combating pipeline vandalism and illegal refining in the Niger Delta region.

Lokpobiri gave the call when he received a delegation of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Bayelsa State Council in his office at Abuja, the nation’s capital.

He highlighted the shared vision of revitalizing the oil and gas industry as the NUJ pledged its support for the oil sector’s transformative work.

He praised the NUJ’s leadership and professionalism, acknowledging their valuable partnership in raising the awareness of the destructive actions of these vandals.

The senator called for sensitization programs to raise awareness about the dangers of the activities of illegal refining on the environment.

Lokpobiri further urged the NUJ to inform the public about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s #RenewedHope administration efforts to transform the oil sector.

This development underscores the importance of cooperation between stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil industry.
