As the world welcomes the ember months, the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ekiti State chapter, is set to begin moves to organize programs and activities that will positively engage it’s members and also put the association in good stead towards more visibility.
According to a statement made available to TopNews in Ado-Ekiti, recall that a Sports Program Planning Committee (SPPC), headed by comrade Demola Atobaba was recently inaugurated at a low key event in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The committee according to the mandate before it as explained by the SWAN Chairman, Alhaji Qozeem Oladapo will spearhead, plan and organize events and activities of the association forthwith.
While having an interface with the SPPC members, Oladapo informed them about some of the proposed initiatives which has been in the offing prior to their inauguration.
Some of the initiatives include the Annual Imperial Alabi SWAN CUP, SWAN Inter-Media Sports fiesta, SWAN Seminar for all members and investiture of some individuals as Patrons, Patronesses, Grand Patrons as well as SWAN Royal Fathers for selected Sports inclined Obas in Ekiti and SWAN Ambassadors for some selected individuals within and outside the country who are either Sports journalists or had gone through the terrain in the course of practising journalism.
The various events being planned by SWAN are expected to commence this September though dates have not been fixed for the programs while sponsors and partners are being sought.
The association hopes to engage it’s members with activities and also make impacts on the people and society at large in each of the four ember months including September, October, November and December 2025.
The Executive of SWAN, Ekiti State has therefore urged all members to remain united, focused, determined and relentless in their quest to reposition, promote and develop the association to an enviable height in the State and among other chapters in the country.
In the meantime, organizers of the 2025 Ikogosi Marathon Race have invited members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ekiti State to a Press Conference.
At the Press Conference scheduled for Monday September 8 at the Governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti , the organizers of the event will share their plans and vision with SWAN members while they shall also answer questions from the Sports journalists from the various media houses in the State.
