…As 2 Ekiti Queens players receives “Women of the Match Award”

It was an exciting moment as the First Lady of Ekiti State, Her Excellency, Associate Professor Olayemi Oyebanji Scooped the Biggest Award of the Night as she was named the Trail Blazer of the Year 2024 for her Visionary Leadership and Advocacy for Women’s Empowerment Across Africa continent.
She was recognized for her role in establishing Ekiti Queens Football Club and championing the cause of the girl child through sports and education development.
Presenting the Outstanding Award at the event held at the British Nigerian Academy in FCT, Abuja, the president and founder of the Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF), Chief Paul Edeh, Esq; described the governor’s wife an outstanding, committed and a true pillar of support to the development of sports in general.
According to a release made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Friday by the Media Officer of Ekiti Queens FC, comrade Demola Atobaba said, the Technical Advisor to the Governor on Sports Development, Dr Mrs Olusola Osetoba stated that the Award is coming after an impressive performance of Ekiti Queens at the ongoing 7th edition of the Sheroes Cup holding in Abuja.
Her words: “Ekiti Queens team side has shown resilience and togetherness which has made football analysts, stakeholders and viewers across board tips the team for success in the upcoming Nigeria Women Football League season bile to commence in December.
“The team has also recorded two players of the match award. The first one was the goal keeper of the team, Comfort Dzer for her exceptional saves against Abia Angels FC and Abosede Ebiesuwa for her outstanding performance in the game against Nasarawa Amazons.
She described the Award as hug congratulations to Her Excellency, the First Lady of Ekiti State, on winning the prestigious Trailblazer Award at the SHEROES AWARDS 2024.
Dr Osetoba hinted that the unrelenting efforts of the Governor and his wife in supporting the female football club in Ekiti have been recognized and celebrated globally. This award is a testament to her dedication to empowering women and girls through sports.
“We are so proud of your tenacity, doggedness and commitment towards developing sports sector in Ekiti, Your Excellency sir, keep shining and inspiring”, she submitted.
