Operatives of the Peace Corps Nigeria (PCN), Ekiti State Command has again apprehended another suspected Indian hemps sellers who also indulged in laptop and phones snazzing in the state. They were allegedly terrorizing Atikankan, Post-office, Ijigbo area, Irona quarters and Fayose market all in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The two suspects named Francis Alex 20-year-old who is a native of Warri in Delta State, and one Ilesanmi Kehinde a 21-year-old are both resides in Ado-Ekiti.
Alex who is serial burglar was caught in the act as a result of hints by the Officers of the Corps who have been monitoring when noticed the suspects were selling a laptop computer belonging to another Delta man Mr Felix Ayodeji around the same Atikankan axis.
They confessed to the Peace Corps Officials that they specializes in phones and laptops snazzing and that they have made several attempts to cart away electrical wires cable and other valuables especially in some of the uncomplicated buildings Ado-Ekiti and it’s environ.
Investigation by TopNews revealed that both Francisc and Ilesanmi are residents of Atikankan in Ado-Ekiti was said to have been instrumental to many burgled incidents in the area and thereby been in possession of some illegal properties which had fuelled suspicion that the accused may have been an agents to those who buying stolen goods in Ado-Ekiti.
But they eventually met their waterloo with the alleged of been the same person who burgled many houses and carted away laptops, generating sets, refrigerators, air conditioners, phones accessories, gas cylinders, to mention but a few.
Speaking with newsmen while confirming the development in an exclusive interview in Ado-Ekiti, the Commandant of Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN), Ekiti State Command, Patriot Mathew Okotie alleged that the two suspects have been terrorizing Ado-Ekiti community for a while before they were caught by officials of the Corps of his command.
According to him, the accused was said to have successfully hijacked laptops, cell phones, burgled many houses in the axis and it’s environ and sell same to those who specialized in buying stolen goods in Ado-Ekiti before luck ran against them.
He said, “Francis and Ilesanmi were arrested as a result of the strategies that our Command put in place. We work on some useful hints about their activities which has to do with stolen of people’s properties and we laid an ambush for them and we eventually got them arrested. This was part of our neighborhood plans and various efforts by the Corps to apprehend criminals and to also ensure the security of lives and properties of Ekiti people”.
He said they were more than that in numbers who are operating in the community, but some of them escaped while investigation is still on to apprehend the buyers, adding that people should say something anytime they see something and that landlords should stop harbouring criminals in their houses.
Okotie further hinted that the two suspects has been handed over to the security agents at Okesa Police Command for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
Both Francis confessed that he is an Indian hemps dealer, while Ilesanmi also confessed that it’s true they stoled the laptop as a result of poverty and that they wanted to use the money to celebrate new year festival, and that it’s true they are deeply involved in stealing people’s properties especially when they are not at home.
