Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Traffic Management, Hom. Israel Adesokan has promised that there’s greater hope for the boxing association in the future.
Recalled that the Ekiti Association has kicked off its trials in preparation for the upcoming National Sports Festival scheduled for May in Ogun State.
The trials, which featured exciting bouts across various categories, saw several Ekiti boxers emerge victorious.

Notable wins included; Oluwakemi David defeating Olaleye Sakiru in the 57kg category, Omotola Wole securing a win against Bamidele Qudus in the 70kg category, and Alade Tobi defeating Agboola Tomisin in the female category.
In a thrilling turn of events, Esan Michael knocked out Ogunbiyi Solomon, while Agboola Tope Victor outboxed Bamidele Qudus.
Beaming with pride, Hon. Israel Adesokan who also doubled as Chairman of the Ekiti Boxing Association, congratulated the boxers on their impressive performances. With a strong sense of optimism, he assured that the association is committed to producing a formidable team that will make Ekiti State proud at the National Sports Festival.
Hon. Adesokan also expressed his gratitude to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for prioritizing sports development in the state.
Additionally, he appreciated the effort of Dr. Mrs. Olusola Osetoba, Technical Advisor to the Governor on Sports Development, for her invaluable support and guidance.
According a statement made available to TopNews in Ado-Ekiti by the Media Officer of the Association, Benard Fagbemiro hinted that, “the next round of trials will take place in a few weeks’ time. Following this, the selected boxers will embark on a closed camping program to further hone their skills and build teamwork.
As the trials continue, the Ekiti boxers will have two more opportunities to showcase their skills and secure a spot on the state’s team. With Hon. Adesokan’s promise of gold still ringing in their ears, the boxers are more determined than ever to give it their all and make their state proud.
