As the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, clocks a year in office, the Publisher of Fountain Newsbreaker, Akogun Tai Oguntayo has charged him not to relent on his feedback mechanism as this is the bedrock of good governance.
Speaking with newsmen on Monday at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akogun Oguntayo who is a former State Chairman of the union commended the governor on his laudable achievements in just one year. He noted that “one unique thing about the governor is that he is not an egoistic leader who will only acknowledge sycophantic messages but welcomes correct assessment of his performances.”
The former NUJ boss commended the governor on his approval of the permanent ownership of the Oke-Bareke site of the press centre granted to the union under the leadership of Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela. He pleaded that all hands must be on deck to ensure that Ekiti NUJ also has a befitting press centre like its counterparts in the Southwest.
Describing media as the fourth estate of the realm, the former Special Adviser on Media to the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly opined that “rather than doing eye-service to the governor, every lover of this administration across the 177 wards of Ekiti State should feel the pulse of the people and pass the accurate situation report to the listening governor.”
Oguntayo commended journalists in the State for their objective support to the government and urge them not to relent in their traditional duties of educating, entertaining and informing the people on the activities of the government. “Gone are the days of one day, one trouble in Ekiti as the era of Omoluabi is now here,” said the former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor on Media.
He reiterated that Fountain Newsbreaker, as the first indigenous online news blogger in Ekiti is now repositioned to objectively report the State to the world and report the world to the State.
