NUJ Appoints Atobaba As Chairman Sports Committee, Names 2 Others

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, has announced the immediate past Assistant Secretary of the union, comrade Demola Atobaba as the Chairman of Sports Committee as part of the activities marking the Annual 2024 Press Week plus other monthly keep fit exercise.
This was in a bid to further strengthen sporting activities among members of the union with other various programs.
The inauguration, which came up on Wednesday during the June monthly Congress Edition of the Council held at the NUJ State Secretariat (Akogun Oguntayo Hall) Ado-Ekiti, had in attendance the State’s Commissioner of Police, Akinwale Adeniran, Technical Advisor to the Ekiti State Governor, Public Communication (Political), Akogun Tai Oguntayo and former Chairman of NUJ; comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela, NAWOJ Chairperson in Ekiti State; Alhaja Adewumi Ademiju, among other top dignitaries.

Other members of the Sports Committee include comrade Abiodun Olofe of State Information chapel and comrade Alo Abiola of Correspondents chapel as members.
Performing the inauguration, the NUJ Chairman in the state, comrade Kayode Babatuyi urged the committee to associate with other relevant stakeholders in Ekiti in order to make the activities remarkable adventure for all the members of the union.
He disclosed that the inauguration of a new sports committee was necessary so as to promote and enhance journalists’ fitness and mental wellbeing.
Babatuyi who maintained that, the sports committee has been saddled with the responsibilities to provide an avenue for media personnel to bond and relate while improving their physical and mental health.

His words: “The inauguration of the sports committee is part of the union’s efforts to prioritize the wellbeing of journalists in Ekiti State. I therefore urged members to please give the committee all the necessary support to thrive on the task ahead”.
Responding on behalf of other members of the committee, comrade Atobaba thanked the leadership of the union and members for the opportunity to serve as the committee’s chairman.
He promised to justify the confidence repose in him and other members of the committee.
