The management of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday allayed fears over safety concerns raised in a viral video.
The Head, EKSU Directorate of Information, Dr Bode Olofinmuagun, said in a statement made available to TopNews in Ado-Ekiti that, “the management wishes to reiterate that EKSU is safe and well secured as there is no cause for alarm.”
The statement was issued in reaction to a viral video showing a suspected bandit threatening to attack the university and one other institution.

Olofinmuagun stated, “The management will not take the security of students and staff for granted, as the security agencies, along with the Security Unit of the university, are on red alert to forestall any security breach.
“Parents, guardians, staff and the students of the university are advised to remain calm.”
In a related development, the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, in Ekiti South-West Local Government Area, HRM Oba Adebanji Alabi, on Tuesday, described as fake a social media report claiming that bandits had invaded a farmstead in his community.
Oba Alabi, in a statement issued by his media adviser, Chief Ajibade Olubunmi, and titled ‘No banditry or kidnapping in Ilawe Ekiti,’ dismissed the report.
The monarch stated, “This is to debunk the report and to emphasise that nothing of such happened. There are no bandits and no kidnappings in Ilawe Ekiti or on roads leading to the community.
“Members of the public are advised to remain calm and continue their normal activities.”
He added that security agencies and local vigilantes manning all entry and exit points to Ilawe-Ekiti were at their duty posts.
