The attention of the Management of Ekiti State University, Ado – Ekiti has been drawn to a fake list trending on social media of the existence of fake Professors in the university.
This fake list was circulated online in the year 2023 when Professor Abubakar Rasheed was the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission and Ekiti State University, immediately reacted by dissociating itself from the list and as well, debunked the report. This same story is still being circulated after Professor Abubakar Rasheed has completed his tenure, handed over to Mr. Chris Maiyaki as Acting Executive Secretary. It is, therefore, surprising that even now that His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed a substantive Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusuf Ribadu in October, 2024, mischief makers are still circulating same story. This calls for suspicion.
In a statement made available to TopNews in Ado-Ekiti by the Deputy Registrar/Head, Directorate of Information & Corporate Affairs, Bode Olofinmuagun, anipr, says “Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti wishes to reiterate that there are no fake Professors in the university. As a matter of fact, all the names appearing under Ekiti State University are unknown and have not at any time been on our staff nominal or pay roll.
Ekiti State University is at present the best State University and the 12th best university out of over 270 universities in Nigeria. The university follows due process in the appointments of Professors and key officers, so labelling the university as having fake Professors is uncalled for, unwarranted and suspicious.
The general public is hereby advised to disregard the fake list and the contents of the story in its entirety.
