In a dramatic turn of events, Mr. Adeleye Ola, brother of Hon. Abraham Olusegun Adeleye, the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for House of Assembly Ekiti West Constituency 2, regains freedom after spending three weeks in captivity.
Meanwhile, the kidnapping, which sparked widespread concern over insecurity in the Okemesi/Ido-Ile axis of Ekiti State, had drawn attention to the growing security challenges in the region.
The kidnapping incident, which occurred in the midst of heightened security concerns in the state, was believed to be linked to the continued effects of the March 2023 post-electioneering turbulence.

Hon. Adeleye’s family had expressed fears for their lives, citing perpetual threats due to his opposition to the ruling party.
Adeleye who is currently in exile was said to have been briefed about the development. The insecurity in the community had taken a toll on economic activities, with travelers fleeing the region and business activities significantly declining. Local businesses were struggling to stay afloat, and the overall economic situation was dire.
Efforts to speak to the police spokesman proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
