As part of the activities commemorating the 2026 Annual Press Week event of the journalists in Ekiti State, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded Ekiti State governorship election, Dr Wole Oluyede, has accepted to deliver the 2026 Annual Public Lecture of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council.
The Ikere-Ekiti-born medical expert will speak on the theme: “The Media as a Strong Catalyst for Improved Citizens’ Participation in the Electoral Process.”
According to a statement by the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, the lecture is scheduled to hold on Thursday, November 19, 2026, at the Sanni Abacha Hall, Old Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti, by 11:00 a.m.

The public lecture is one of the major activities lined up for the 2026 NUJ Press Week. Other activities include a novelty football match, Iyan Day, dinner and award night.
The lecture will be broadcast live on selected radio stations and notable online platforms to enable members of the public who may be unable to attend physically to follow the proceedings.
Members of the public, relevant stakeholders, media professionals, academics and students of journalism are expected to attend the event.
