All hands is now on deck as the Editorial Board of Kayegbo Media Outfit, under the Life Patronage of Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, has announced plans to confer special awards on distinguished personalities, as part of the media organisation’s activities to commemorate 30 years of serving Ekiti State, through its talent and publications.
This is contained in a release made available to TopNews in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital by Chief Morakinyo Ogunniyi, Publisher, Kayegbo Media.
Morakinyo who doubles as the Amuludun of Okemesi-Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State since year 2000, said as selection of awardees was still ongoing, the Board would recognise only 30 distinguished personalities to mark 30 years of Ekiti State creation by the military administration in 1996.
”The anniversary date falls on October 1, 2026″, he said.
According to him, ”The awards are in three categories and they include: Ekiti Builder Leadership Award, Iconic Women of the Year Award, and Special Recognition Awards for personalities who had promoted Kayegbo Media’s talent and publications, and whose hard copies circulate across the globe, including online, for posterity.
”In same vein,140 personalities will also receive Special 140th Anniversary Souvenirs, to commemorate the 140th Anniversary of the Unity of Yorubaland through the Ekiti Parapo War of Liberation, fought in the 19th century. This other historic anniversary falls on September 23, 2026″, he said.
He however explained that all selected awardees and recipients would be presented with their award plaques and anniversary souvenirs on October 1, 2026, at the Ule Itan Ekiti Parapo Archive, Okemesi, Ekiti, which is one of the legacy project, built by the Kayegbo Media.
”The presentation will coincide with the grand finale of the 2026 Ekiti Parapo Festival, also sponsored by Kayegbo Media, scheduled to hold same day at the Afe Babalola Hall of Fame and Garden, Tourism Village, Okemesi-Ekiti”, the statement concluded.
