Operatives of the Efon-Alaaye Divisional Police Headquarters of the Ekiti Police Command have arrested more more suspects in connection with a case of unlawful possession of firearms, cultism, and belonging to an unlawful society.
The operatives had earlier apprehended one Sunday Samuel, 26, of Isare St. Efon-Alaaye, on August 8,2026, who was transferrred to the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) for further investigation.
In furtherance of the investigation, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), acting on credible intelligence and information obtained from the earlier arrested suspect, swung into action and arrested three additional suspects at different locations within Efon-Alaaye at about 0100hrs on 10 August 2026.
The suspects are Aluko Mayowa, aged 33 years, a.k.a. Mayoratin; Oparinde Samuel, aged 34 years, a.k.a. Apako; and Mukaila Akintayo, aged 37 years, a.k.a. Ibadan.
According to the police, preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects are members of the Eiye Secret Confraternity and have made statements admitting their alleged membership, as well as their respective positions and roles within the group.
Following their arrest, the operatives conducted thorough searches of their residences and premises, during which the following exhibits were recovered: one locally made pistol, one UTC axe, one iron-made dangerous axe, one jackknife, and one cutlass.
The public relations unit says efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects currently at large, while investigation continues to unravel the activities and network of the suspected cult group in the State.
The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Michael Falade, reiterates the Command’s commitment to tracking down other members of the group, as well as other criminal elements in the State, and ensuring that persons found culpable are brought to justice.
