….Decries lack of electricity, good roads, portable water

Landlords and Landladies Association of Okeao Community in Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government Areas of Ekiti State, Iyin-Ekiti, have sent a ‘Save Our Souls’ appeal message to the Ekiti State Government and other relevant stakeholders to urgently provide critical social amenities to improve their living conditions.
The community, which comprises Rockside Avenue, Oloruntedo, and Royal Avenue, made the appeal during a peaceful protest attended by community leaders, residents, and other stakeholders.
Addressing journalists on Saturday on behalf of the residents, some of the community leaders which includes; Mr Taiwo Jinadu, Olori Temidayo Durogbade, and Mr Temitope Babalola expressed displeasure over the prolonged lack of electricity, revealing that the area has remained in total blackout for the past 15 years despite repeated appeals to the relevant authorities.
They called on the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Boidun Oyebanji, leader of the Senate, Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and the member representing Ekiti Central Constituency I in the House of Representatives, Hon. Olushola Steve Fatoba to urgently intervene to their yearnings by restore electricity, and also fix the roads leading to the community in due time.
The protesters who also lamented the deplorable condition of roads within the community, noting that recent heavy downpour has worsened erosion and flooding, causing damage to residential buildings and making movement increasingly difficult for residents.
According to them, the absence of proper drainage systems and accessible roads poses serious environmental and safety challenges, especially during the rainy season.
While acknowledging the efforts of the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, and other notable stakeholders in developing various parts of the state, the community leaders appealed for immediate attention to Okeao Community, stressing that access to electricity, good roads, and other essential infrastructure would significantly improve the welfare and socio-economic activities of residents.
The residents expressed optimism that their peaceful appeal would receive prompt consideration, urging the government and elected representatives to act swiftly in addressing their longstanding challenges.
The community leaders lamented the levels of neglect by government and other political officeholders, adding that residents of the community have been in darkness for over fifteen years after so many efforts made without yielding any meaningful outcome.
“We have written many letters on assistance just to get it done and that, this time around, we the entire landlords and landladies of the the Okeao community hereby again beging our talk and do governor Biodun Oyebanji, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele for the electrification and transformer installation in our area”.
According to them, “Okeao is a fast-growing and developing community of not less than one thousand five (1,500) houses located in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Areas of the state”.
The residents who hoping that if the electrification project of the axis is been executed, it will improve and boost the economy of the state and thereby enhance the standard living of the people residing in the Okeao community and also make life comfortable.
