Technical Advisor to the Ekiti State Governor on Sports Development, Dr Olusola Osetoba has commended the Governor of the state, Mr Biodun Oyebanji over his sterling performance in sporting sector within the last three and half years in office.
The event was in commemoration of the 62nd anniversary of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), the Ekiti State chapter undertook a guided tour of major sports facilities across the state, led by the Technical Adviser on Sports Development to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Dr Mrs Olusola Osetoba.
Kickstarting the facilities tour from the popular Oluyemi Kayode Stadium located around Okesa area of Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, she said though the stadium is under-reconstruction but hoping to be completed soon.
While briefing SWAN members on the scope and purpose of the ongoing upgrade, Dr Osetoba described the governor as God’s-sent and talk and do personality in this political era in Ekiti.
According to her, the governor has performed excellently well when it comes to sports matter with a lot of laudable projects which includes; renovation of Oluyemi Kayode Stadium in Ado-Ekiti that will stands test of time, the ongoing indoor sport complex and renovation of Ikole-Ekiti township stadium.
Her words: “Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is a God-sent quintessential asset to the good people of Ekiti State, as exemplified through memorable and monumental developmental projects recorded in his scorecard to move the State forward. The Governor’s visible, unprecedented achievements are not only inspiring, but also a great pride for posterity to laud and appreciate”.
“Ekiti communities has impressively enjoyed dividends of democracy, under the progressive administration of Governor Oyebanji.
Dr Osetoba who glowingly commended Governor Oyebanji for extending such gigantic infrastructural facilities to the sporting sector in the state noted that a lot are still coming according to the Governor.
She prayed for divine fulfilment of Governor Oyebanji’s aspirations, especially his 2026 election victory for 2nd term in office as Governor of Ekiti State, till 2030.
Dr Osetoba explained during the tour that Governor Oyebanji’s administration has prioritised sports as a strategic tool for youth development, empowerment and social inclusion in Ekiti State.
The tour also include the ongoing One Thousand Five Capacity Indoor Sports Hall at the EkitiKete Pavilion along new Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti.
SWAN members were led by their pioneer chairman; Mr Toying Ayoola, Ekiti Chairman, Qozeem Oladapo alongside the Vice President of SWAN South-West, Mr Ayodeji Ogunsakin.
Speaking with TopNews shortly after the tour, the Special Assistant and Director-General of the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery, Dr John Ekundayo, reinstated the government’s commitment to sustained investment in sports-driven youth development.
In a separate remarks, Mr Toyin Ayoola, Mr Ayodeji Ogunsakin and Quozeem Oladapo applauded the Governor and Dr Osetoba for taking sporting activities to an enviable heights which they described as a good template to emulate for others.
They also thanked SWAN members and leaders for been supportive and making the association’s 62nd anniversary a memorable and impactful celebration amidst pomp and celebrations.
