Journalists in Ekiti State, under the umbrella of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, have promised to continue using their platforms to positively project the image of the government to the world.

This is contained in a communique issued after a meeting of the leaders of the Union and made available to TopNews in Ado-Ekiti.

The Union clarified that an initial communique issued after its monthly Congress two weeks ago was only calling for improved welfare of members, and not attacking the government as perceived in some quarters.

It confirmed that the present administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji has invested in the media sector and supported the Union, adding that the initial statement was only pushing for deeper engagement with the government to boost media relations and ensured that key factors that would improve their work in the state are not ignored.

The leaders acknowledged the existing symbiotic relationship between the government and the media, with promises to sustain it.
