It was an exciting and fun fair moment in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital when the Governor of the state, Mr Biodun Oyebanji gave an assurance of his continue support for all children across Ekiti State.
Speaking at a program tagged: “KidsCon” 2nd edition which was organized as part of his administration’s effort to put smiles on the faces of children in the state, Mr Biodun Oyebanji and his wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji assured that the present administration will continue to do everything possible to ensure good governance extends to the grassroots.
Governor Oyebanji who spoke through his Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr Adedayo Gold Adesola, said the program was one of the BAO’s and BAORess laudable program specially packaged to carry children along in this present administration agenda in Ekiti.
“This is the 2nd edition and the feed back about the first one we held last was very impressive because looking at the numbers of registered schools who participated in this edition, one would say it’s a welcome development to the kids. The excitement and accolades was so massive and the governor has given his approval that the show will continue to hold throughout his administration.”
Participants were drawn from the sixteen local governments and LCDA’s include all the registered and approved public and private schools in the state where over 1,500 beneficiaries pupils were in attendance.
It would be recalled that over 1,000 children received special gifts of school bags from the governor last year during the maiden edition.
Speaking with newsmen, the coordinator of the program, Mrs. Funmi Bankole, specially thanked governor Oyebanji for the acceptability of the program which have been in one way or the other bring joy and renewed the hope of the participants.
While commending the various giant stride of the governor, she promised not to let Ekiti kids down in the subsequent edition. She said that the event tagged: “Ekiti Children Fun Time with BAO has again been written in gold in the hearts of the beneficiaries.
The annual event was held at the spacious Obafemi Awolowo Civic Centre in Ado-Ekiti, had in attendance stakeholders in the education sector, political office holders, captains of industries party chieftains and lot more, while all the children who could not hide their joy went home with lunch box materials as gifts from the governor.
